After losing a coin toss, Jesse and Walt visit Saul at his office in a strip mall, where they learn that the DEA wants Badger to lead them to meth producer Heisenberg.
Jesse attempts to use his gun as leverage against Saul in an effort to coax him into accepting a bribe; however, Saul refuses.
Saul Goodman is a lawyer
Jimmy McGill transforms from con artist to lawyer Saul Goodman with the goal of going the extra mile for his clients. His connections in the criminal world allow him to act as an intermediary for drug distributors, evidence disposers, impersonators and others while fulfilling illegal orders such as bugging locations or cleaning up crime scenes.
Saul, known for his eccentric appearance and mannerisms, is actually an extremely competent lawyer who excels at finding legal loopholes for his clients – particularly criminals unfamiliar with lawyers. Due to this high demand from criminals unfamiliar with lawyers working on their behalf, his services become particularly sought after; eventually becoming involved in money laundering activities with multiple nail salons as front businesses for this criminal activity.
Walt and Jesse, two meth cooks who visit him to talk meth production, convince him not to talk with the DEA by pretending they are Badger’s uncle in order to prevent them from talking with them about Heisenberg, whom the DEA are hunting down and trying to arrest. Subsequently he attempts to help them escape.
Saul Goodman is a criminal lawyer
Saul Goodman is a criminal attorney specializing in drug litigation. A self-confident character with no moral boundaries whatsoever, Saul will take any job for any price provided it serves his client’s best interests – even murder!
Meth cooks Walter White and Jesse Pinkman find their lab under investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), so they turn to Saul for legal representation – although he warns them he won’t bribe anyone into not investigating them. Saul agrees but insists he won’t use his influence over DEA to change its course against them.
As Getz attempts to recruit Badger as an informant against Heisenberg, Saul quickly dismisses him and takes the money that Getz offered in return. Saul then informs Badger that the DEA believes they may find bigger fish with him.
Saul Goodman is a money launderer
Saul Goodman is a criminal attorney willing to do whatever is necessary to advance his clients’ meth-peddling venture. Though some critics have condemned his unethical tactics, others applauded his dedication and dedication for their clients’ cause. Saul often breaches New Mexico law by encouraging his clients to engage in illegal activities.
Saul helps Jesse buy his aunt’s house with drug money and persuades Walt to continue cooking meth, all while bugging Skyler’s house to see if she told the police about the meth lab. To facilitate his plans he even arranges for Francesca (his secretary) to pose as an Albuquerque PD dispatcher so Hank Schrader leaves their RV that Jesse and Walt are using as a meth lab quickly so they have time to destroy it themselves.
Underneath his artful comb-over lurks a criminal mastermind who excels at finding legal loopholes and fighting tirelessly on behalf of his clients’ interests. He boasts extensive links within the criminal world – evidence disposers, impersonators and money launderers are just some examples.
Saul Goodman is a consigliere
Saul’s abilities as an influencer and his willingness to prioritize one client over the others make him an invaluable ally to criminals. Jesse calls Saul after discovering Brock has possibly been poisoned with ricin; Saul immediately uses his skills in order to keep the DEA away.
In Breaking Bad, Mike Ehrmantraut helped Walt expand his meth manufacturing operation by connecting him with local drug kingpin Gustavo Fring through Mike Ehrmantraut. Additionally, he advised Walt to launder money through laser tag storefronts and nail salons – even bugging his stoner tenants’ apartments to force them into paying more money!
While Michael Corleone would have wanted him to be more aggressive, Saul is still quite good at what he does. With his combination of savvy, tactlessness and cornering prosecutors in men’s rooms as tools of his trade, Saul makes for a formidable opponent – an ability he brings over into Better Call Saul spin-off series.
